Are Shade Sails Expensive? Playground shade sails provide shade over areas where children and families gather and enjoy the outdoors together. These popular sun and shade sails can come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and prices. Quality shade sails that protect children are worth the investment!
To choose the best option for you, you should consider the following:
Type of Fabric:
Commercial Grade Sail Cloth offers long-lasting durability and quality. While shade sails can be purchased from a variety of sources, not all fabrics are created equal. At Creative Shades, we use several types of commercial-grade high-density polyethylene (HDPE) shade fabric and super durable TENARA® thread to manufacture our shade sails. We choose shade fabric that meets fire resistance tests too! This adds to the cost factor however, it increases durability and years of use—as well as peace of mind. In the long run, quality fabric will pay for itself.
Sewing & Thread:
The way a shade sail is constructed is extremely important. In our shop, we only construct sail that have all corners reinforced to distribute the load for 90 mph winds—but this is not the case for all. We also ensure that the sleeves for the cables are double lock stitched and that the thread is TANARA® premium sewing thread. It is super durable and is ideal for fabrication of shade sails, awning covers, and other outdoor applications. We choose this thread because it wont fade or stain and is UV radiation resistant and can withstand extreme weather. Lesser threads and sewing techniques are available and will reflect in the price—however, again, you get what you pay for.
Size of Project and Structure:
Each project is unique and we work with each customer to determine the best configuration and specs for each. As you would expect, the size of a project has a huge effect on the final price. When we consult with a client, we always look for the most economical configuration while checking all of the other boxes on the “must-have” list.
Warranties:
When choosing a shade sail, you will want to know if the vendor offers a warranty. Shade sails offer an aesthetic and economical way to provide shade and shelter, however you want it to last. Creative Shade offers a 10-year warranty on our superior workmanship, and a comprehensive warranty and a guarantee of full Florida, Georgia and South Carolina code compliance for installation of shade structures and shade sails. You should be able to rest assured that your shade sail investment is worth every penny.
So, What ARE the Real Costs?
It is natural to want to know the cost of a shade sail before you get too far into your project. While factors such as quality, fabric, style, size and number of sails must be considered the majority of our commercial projects fall in the $3,000 to $15,000 range.
